Press release — 16 December 2003

At the AGM on December 10 December 2003 Brian Mallett stepped down as Witham Wheelers CC Chairman after over 25 years of service.

Brian has been instrumental and has steered the Club through the most difficult time for cycling not only as a form of transport but, particularly as a sport. The Club has not only survived but is growing in membership.

Veteran Campaigner, Dave Herd takes over as the new Chairman and is first to acknowledged Brian’s role, in keeping the club on track and believes that it is well set for the challenges ahead.

“Brian has not only helped the Club survive but, has helped provide the foundation for many cyclist to develop including Ex–International rider and British Cycling’s Assistant Coach Rod Ellingworth, and a number of riders who are able to enjoy racing, tourism and leisure cycling.”
