Derby Track Session- Report – Photos in Gallery

Witham Wheelers enjoyed a session on the boards at Derby Track on Saturday afternoon. (Track Photos on web site)

Over 20 riders had the chance to experience three 20 minute sets spread over a 2 hour period which was quite testing in the very hot conditions. Split into 2 groups the youngsters were nearly all experienced riders on the boards having had the chance to take part in British Cycling coaching sessions and were able to develop their skills further during the afternoon.

For the more mature riders it was mainly a first taste of riding fixed wheel bikes on the steep inboard banking but they all got stuck in and everyone progressed from hesitantly riding round the bottom of the track, gradually picking up speed and moving up the track and finishing the final session with a full on 3 lap race.

A great time was had by all and thanks go to coaches Tracey McAndrew and Martin Blake for their time in organizing the event and helping the riders make such good progress.
