Road Race Round-up

Plenty of placings by local riders in the last week.

In the University of Nottingham Circuit Races at the Harvey Hadden Circuit on Saturday Peter Cocker (Richardsons Cycles) initiated the break of 4 riders early on in the Elite/1/2/3 category 1 hour race before attacking out of the final bend to take his first win of the season.

In the supporting 3/4 category race Karl Baillie (Witham Whs) also won with Martyn Ludlam (Witham whs) 4th. This was after Karl won on the same circuit on the previous Wednesday evening, breaking away early with ex-olympian Bryan Steele to take a clear win in the sprint. Martyn placed 8th in that event

Steve Young now riding for the RAF CC 4th in the PB Performance Road Race over 60 miles at Coalville.

There is a chance to see all these local riders in action this weekend as Witham Wheelers promote their annual British Cycling road races on Monday 27th May on the Hungerton, Saltby, Stroxton, Skillington, Ponton Heath circuit. In the morning its the Regional 3/4 category riders over 4 laps (49 miles) from 9.30 to 11.30 and in the afternoon its the turn of National Elite/1/2 category riders over 7 laps (82 miles). With support from PedalPushers Bike Shop in Grantham, these races always attract good fields with attacking racing on a challenging circuit.
