Reliability No. 7 – Photos in Gallery

Week 7

A much better week weather wise for the 7th Witham Wheelers reliability ride, sunny dry conditions with a south westerly breeze just to make the open flat fen roads from Heckington down to Rippingdale a good test.

With 32 riders split into 3 groups all working well to hit the target average speeds of 15.9, 17.4 and 19.5mph over the 52mile route

The day was only spoilt by an inconsiderate elderly driver of a large Mercedes who saw no reason to slow down or move over on a narrow country lane, forcing riders to take evasive action on the verge with one hitting the ground, fortunately with no damage done.

Thankfully he was in the minority with most drivers and riders showing courtesy to each other on a pleasant Sunday morning.

Nest Sunday 24th Feb it’s a 54 mile route with a few more hills heading out to Melton Mowbray, Borrough on the Hill and returning via Ashwell. A shorter route will also be available. First group leaves at 9.00pm from the Cricket Club on Gorse Lane to ensure any lingering frost has hopefully disappeared. Full details on the club website.
