Back to the Benniworth Moto-Cross circuit north of Horncastle in the Lincolnshire Wolds for the latest round of the Lincolnshire league promoted by VC Lincoln. The course was a little drier than when it was first used before Christmas but the mixture of steep grassy climbs and thick mud made for a really tough event with many riders happy just to complete the course.
The conditions didn’t stop Amy Kolbert from finishing 12th overall (1st female) in the Under 16s youth race for a clean sweep of the girls event so far this season. This was her second race of the weekend after taking an excellent first U14 female in the very competitive Notts & Derby league event at Sherwood Forest.
In the under 9s it was a first win for younger brother Max Kolbert coming home almost half a minute ahead of his nearest rival Toby Carpenter VC Lincoln. In the Under 12s Oliver Bailey just held of a fast finishing Isla Kolbert for 5th and 6th respectively. Isla taking first female again.
The veterans saw a close race for leading club rider with Simon Cocker finishing 37th (3rd vet 60) just 15 seconds ahead of Sean East (27th vet 40) with Adam Kolbert 51st (33rd Vet 40).
With the course getting ever muddier for the final race of the day Julie Clark rode well for 3rd overall (2nd vet lady) with Fiona Kolbert 5th (4th Vet 40) not finding the conditions greatly to her liking!
