A warm evening but a brisk westerly breeze generally slowed riders in the eigth round of the club 10 mile handicap league. Jim Coleman was quickest again in 21.28 some 25 seconds slower than his recent course record. Second was Neil Sentence in 24.23 with Peter Cocker a further 10 seconds behind. Overall 7 riders were under the 25 minute barrier including 14 year old schoolboy Carl Baillie for the first time and Spanish rider Juan Carlos making his debut in British cycling.
However, on handicap 6 riders still managed to record personal best times, second time rider Matthew Dilks made the biggest improvement of almost 1.30 with Dean Toon second with almost a 1.15 improvement and Graham Jenks third taking over half a minute off. Overall Dave Moulds still has a 1 point lead from Mick Egner.
Next week its the ninth round of the 10 mile handicap series on Tuesday 7th, signing on from 6.15 at the Cricket Club on Gorse lane and on Wednesday 8th, a chance for Road Race coaching and a practice race at Barkston Heath, all ages welcome from 6.00pm onwards.
