Dry but misty morning for the Witham Wheelers promoted round of the
Lincolnshire Cyclo-Cross league. A good turn out of riders from everywhere
except Grantham with only young Ben Smith giving it a go in the Youth
race.
20 riders in the U12 which was run on a shortened course with winner Lennox
Saint.
12 riders in the U16 won by Tim Allen with Ben doing well
to finish on a
mountain bike, which was not the ideal bike for the fast grassland circuit.
 54 riders in the senior event, which was a keenly fought event with Mark
Cotton and Scott Weekley both from VC Lincoln neck and neck until about
2/3
distance when a fall by Scott over the straw bales gave Mark a chance
to
open up a gap which he kept extending until the finish.
Experienced
Roadman John Tanner was also on the start line but failed to
finish possibly finding the
bumpy grass a bit harder than the usual tarmac.
