Rich E (club sponsor and saviour), Jim, Tom and I rode the Lincs league
last night at Barton-on-Humber.
It was a good course but a bit too lumpy for me
and Rich who both retired early - Rich later found out he'd been riding
with his back brakes locked on - doh! Tom was going well and was up there
until the bell when his chain set came loose - we comforted him with a
big blanket and some candy. Jim was at long last riding in club coloursand
was in the mix the whole 8 laps and was in a small group that had a 20 yard
lead at the bell but it had all come together for a mass sprint at the end
and Jim came in an excellent seventh place a couple of yards behind the winner.
One point to note is that Richard Wilkinson, the elite rider of Rapha Condor
who did very well in the Lincs GP and also rode the Oakham - Melton had
blown on the last lap so it puts Jim's performance into some kind of perspective.
Must be well up in the overall placings still.
Approx average times for
the race - Group 1 in about 20.5 until they were caught, Group 3 in about
22.5 until they caught group 1 and Group 1 was 25+.
