5th April 2005 | 10 mile 2 up and Tandem Time Trial

A Good evening for the first 10-mile TT of the season

Despite a forecast of rain during the evening there was an excellent turn out for the first Witham Wheelers 10 mile TT, and as it turned out, conditions were near perfect with only a light southwesterly wind and dry roads. It was little after 18:30 when the first rider, Jade Ostler, headed off up the coarse, and I believe this was Jades first TT with the Wheelers. Also new to the coarse, I believe, were Phil Atherton, Richard Ellingworth, Simon Cocker and Rod Perez and it was encouraging to see new blood out at the beginning of the season — lets hope this continues! Times seemed fast on the whole although Dave Herd made some excuse for not finishing – something about a puncture. If you need to borrow an inner tube for next week, Dave, let me know!

The photographer was a little slow getting to grips with the equipment and sadly everyone does not feature but hopefully we can add to the gallery during the coming weeks. The return photos were poor quality as the setting sun played havoc with the exposure.

Below is a copy of the times:
Tony and Tom Mendham 26:22
Rod Howbrook and Ian Simpson — 26:20
Dave Ostler and Micheal Ostler — 27:24
Jade Ostler — 36:29
Dave Strickson with no Dave Herd — 25:17
Phil Atherton and Simon Cocker — 28:23
Rod Perez and Bill Harrison — 34:25
Rochard Ellingwortha and John Spendlow — 25:34
John Burgess — 26.47

No prizes for guessing who would be fastest! Next weeks event is again at 18:30 and will be the first league ten proper.
