25 May 2004
A wet night with a westerly wind making it hard but 6 out of the 13 club members riding set new course bests for the season. Of the 13 there was Michael Ostler, riding his first ever 10 on his mountain bike with thick knobbly tyres.
Best improver was Annie Arthur who knocked almost a minute off her previous course best to win the handicap for the knight. Next best improver was David Herd who knocked 29 secs off his season best (PBS) and 6 secs off his Personal Best Last Three Seasons. (PB LTS). Others improving for the season were Bill Harrison (7 secs), Rob Johnson (24 secs), Glenn Meredith (19 secs) and Jon Spendlow (11 secs).
David Herd came second in the handicap, followed by a consistent Glenn Meredith and Tom Mendham, so no change in the overall for the season.
Other rides were club members Simon and Ben Smith, on the tandem, in 28:26 and guest riders Gavin Cranidge (24:50) and Graeme Smallbone (26:49).
