11 May 2004
On going up to the High Dyke there was faint hope that the sun would win through, but Cold Harbour lived up to the name and the clouds closed in, but never threatened rain. With a steady westerly wind which made it a hard cross-wind on the return southerly leg on Ermine Street, 16 riders set off down the A52.
The fastest on the bumpy triangular circuit was guest rider Rich Berry, of the RAF CC, who went round in a phenomenal 29:12. Other guests were a fastly improving Graeme Smallbone in 33:05 followed closely by Peter Hopkins with 33:32. Fastest club rider was John Spendlow in 31:11, closely followed by John Burgess in 31:25 followed by Bill Harrison with 31:39.
This was a stand-alone event and does not effect any of the season-long competitions as does next week's event on the 11.5 miles road race circuit based on Stroxton and Skillington.
