Reliabilities 2019 – Update week 10 – 10th March

Note the earlier stat time of 8.30 for week 10 – see link to routes below


Following on from the successful ride on Sunday 17th with the modified route, next weeks route has also been updated, the main change that we will leave the main road at Great Dalby for Borough on the Hill and passing to the north of Oakham. A bit shorter at 54.8 and a little less climbing but should still be enough for most people and a quieter road.

Week 7 – 17th Feb

As bad weather has disrupted the last 2 weeks, its proposed that we ride the shorter 51 mile route on Sunday, as the jump up to 63 miles will be a jump up in distance for many.


Note week 1 route, now slightly longer to avoid the narrow muddy lane to Dove Cottage and Long Lane, now keep straight on in Harby to Langar, then turn right to Granby and back to Redmile,

If members  could send ideas for alternative routes ASAP to then we can slot these into an appropriate place in the programme. Ideally in gpx format or a copied map would be OK.

After trying the faster groups starting first and the slowest group last, at 5 minute intervals, we will revert to the slower groups setting of first and the quickest last.

Otherwise using existing routes we have  a programme as follows.

As well as the routes below, each week there will be a shorter route for less ambitious riders, which will aim to average 10+ mph.

There will be up to 5 groups, which will be expected to ride together, keeping to an average speed in the range of

Group 1           20+

Group 2           18 to 19 mph

Group 3           16 to 17 mph

Group 4           14 to 15 mph

Group 5           Shorter route 10+ mph

  • Riders should be realistic about their capabilities and sign on for the group appropriate to their ability.
  • Will each rider also sign back in after each ride, so that we know you are safe, in case you cannot get back to the HQ , contact Janet East (mob. 07906 343 318)
  • Entry Fee £3 per ride.
  • Please ensure your bike is in good working order and take food, waterproof clothing and spare inner tube etc.
  • A map of each weeks route can be downloaded from the club web site ‘Cycling’ menu.
  • A full report, times and photos, when available, will also be posted on the web site after each ride.
  • Refreshments will be available at the HQ after the rides.
  • See club website ‘Discussion Forum’ and Facebook page for updates in the event of bad weather.
  • If a ride is cancelled due to bad weather we will not miss a route to avoid a big jump in distance.
