22/1 - Lincs handicap Cyclo-Cross - Bardney
The final event of the Lincs league cyclocross took place at Bardney Abbey on the 22nd January in very windy and muddy conditions. Rick Lister won and I think Mark Cotton came second carrying his broken bike over the finish line. Sean East (25th) was trying to go faster but he was tired from looking after his new Son Charlie in the middle of the night. I was shouting go on Daddy! ( By Jessica East Age 6.) Photo Album»

The final results of the League saw Mark Cotton of ByckaSports win with 600 points followed closely by George Thompson of Sleaford Wheelers with 562. With the cylco-cross season drawing to a close Kerrigan Robb continues to get improved results in his first year in the Under 12 category. In the Notts & Derby league at Long Eaton on Saturday, he achieved his best result of the season with 3rd from a field of 48 riders. Then on Sunday in the final Lincs league event he was again 2nd overall and first on handicap in difficult windy and muddy conditions.

18/12 Rossington
With the final round of the Lincs Cyclo-Cross league near Doncaster, most of the club cross regulars didn't make the journey with the lure of the mince pie club run proving too strong.
However Kerrigan Robb made the trip and took an excellent 2nd place in the Under 12s behind Jake Norton from Spalding. This was after competing in the Notts & Derby league on Saturday at Sherwood Pines where he achieved his best finish in that league of 5th out of 51 riders.

11/12 Cottingham Coureurs Cyclo-Cross
The penultimate round of the Lincolnshire league was held at Winterton showground, just north of Scunthorpe and only a few club riders made the trip. The course was mainly grass with only one dismount and with the forecast heavy rain luckily holding off until near the end of the senior race, conditions were relatively fast.

In the under 12s Kerrigan Robb finished in his now customary 3rd position behind the 2 old riders from Spalding matt Ellis and Jake Norton.
With 55 riders starting the race a good start was important and championship leader Mark Cotton from Lincoln was soon out in front and steadily pulled away from the rest for the hour long race for a clear win. Peter Cocker now almost fully recovered from his heavy crash on Manchester Velodrome last month, got a good start and settled into a small group fighting for 6th place, but in the end had to settle for 7th overall and first Junior (under 18) rider. Simon Cocker rode steadily and finished in 43rd position. Top of page»

27/11 VC Lincoln Cyclo-Cross
The 10th round of the Lincolnshire Leaue was held at Bardney on a mixed course of bumpy grass field and farm track with a couple of dismounts thrown in for good luck. Conditions were reasonably dry but a stong wind made for a hard race.
In the Under 12s Kerrigan Robb continued his run of good form with another fine 3rd place behind regular winners Matt Ellis and Jake Norton of Spalding.
Under 16s saw Henry Thompson of Sleaford continue to extend his overall lead with another win, no club riders taking part this week.
In the Senior race there was another race long battle between championship leader Mark Cotton and Rick Lister, wth Mark just holding off Rick in a sprint finish. Best club rider on the day was Sean East in 23rd - his best position of the season so far and Simon Cocker 40th

In the Under 12s Kerrigan Robb was riding his second race of the weekend after placing 11th out of 52 in the Notts & Derby League at Holme Pierrepoint on Saturday. In the under 16s Eleanor Crawford is starting to get to grips with the longer races and enjoying the technical challenges finished 20th overall and 12th in Karen Crawfordthe under 14s age group.
The senior event was marred when the promised starting loop was missed out and 80 riders were funnelled straight onto single track in the woods causing some chaos. However regular winner Mark Cotton battled throughout with professional rider Graham Briggs of Rapha Condor Sharp but just lost out in the finishing sprint. Sean East was the best club finisher in 39th overall followed by a steadily improving Chris Crawford in 51st while Simon Cocker slipped back to 61st after a couple of crashes on the slippery corners in the woods. Peter Cocker retired after getting caught up in the chaos at the start was further compounded by a crash in the woods.

16/10 Bourne Wheelers Cyclo-Cross
The latest round of the Lincs league at Bourne Woods was not the most of successful days for club riders. In the Under 12's Kerrigan Robb was riding well in 3rd place when a problem with course marking caused several riders to go off course, including Kerrigan and he was unable to finish the race.

In the senior event a big field of 90 riders started in fast dry conditions and Peter Cocker made a good start and was in the first 10 after the first mile when he was involved in what will probably be the most bizarre accident in cyclo-cross this year. A deer cut across the course bringing down 4 riders in a tangled pile of bikes and bodies. Simon Cocker stopped to help sort the riders out and although they all got going again after losing quite a lot of time, Peter retired soon after with considerable bruising and some bike damage.

The race was won by Mark Cotton of Lincoln, just holding off fast improving junior George Thompson from Sleaford. Sean East managed to avoid all the trouble to finish in the thirties and Simon Cocker finished well down the field.
