About the Witham Wheelers

The Witham (with a soft ‘t’) Wheelers are based at Grantham, south-west Lincolnshire. The club was founded in the 1950s and has been very pro–active in that time in promoting cycling in all its formats.

The Wheelers promote Road Races, Time Trials and a Cyclo–cross meeting every year which can be read about here. The results of past events can be seen here.

Individual members take part in all disciplines of cycling — Road Racing, Time–Trialling, Track Racing, Grass–Track Racing and the modern Multi–Sport events, i.e. Duathlons and Triathlons.

Throughout the year, the club has a social ride, usually covering 50 miles around the local lanes, which starts at the Grantham Market Cross on Sundays at 9.30am and is an ideal way to get some cycling in and to get to know other cyclists. During the Summer the club runs a series of 10 mile Time Trials, which is a good way to get an introduction into competitive cycling. These events take place on Gorse Lane (to the south west of the town) on Tuesdays evenings. The club occassionally runs events over other distances, from 12 to 25 miles. More details of these and other club vents can be read about in Events.
