CycloCross Reports 2011

2/10 Spalding Cross
With record breaking temperatures making for very unseasonal cyclo-cross conditions 6 club riders rode the senior event. Final positions are not yet known but Peter Cocker was the first club rider home after being brought to an abrupt halt only 50 yds after the start when 2 riders crashed in front of him and he lost almost a minute before he could get going again. Next was Sean East showing the benefits of a new cross bike followed by Simon Cocker, Chris Crawford, Peter Pain in his first ever cyclo-cross and Karen Crawford. Clear overall winner was Sigma Sport professional rider Steve Lampier, with Mark Cotton from Lincoln in 2nd.
In the under 12s Kerrigan Robb was 5th and Eleanor Crawford did well to finish the under 16s, having been moved up to the longer 30 minute race for the first time.

25/9/11 Sleaford Cross
Moving to a new course at Ancaster Karting track Sleaford Whs produced an interesting course of half grass and half short wooded climbs that seemed to catch quite a few riders out. Kerrigan Robb took a good 6th place in the Under 12s and Karl Baillie riding well for 5th in the under 16s. The senior event was best forgotten by the senior riders with Peter Pain breaking his rear mech. while warming up and Simon Cocker puncturing and retiring at the end of the second lap.
