Reliability Rides 2009 - 35 (40)mile Hilly

In the third ride of the Witham Wheelers series of Reliability rides, 32 riders took on the challenge of a 40 mile hilly circuit of the Vale of Belvoir taking in climbs at Harby, Stathern, Woolsthorpe and Denton.

With 5 different groups aiming for average speeds from 12 to 22 mph it promised to be a hard morning with a cold head wind finish and snow forecast. As in previous weeks all the groups rode well together with the aim to finish as many riders together as possible at the target speed.

Only John and Christine Hill with a jammed chain on the tandem in Group 1 and Nigel Podham from group 4 with a puncture had problems but all riders still achieved their targets in spite of the driving snow that made the last 5 miles more interesting.
