Reliability Rides 2009 - 100 Km 22 February

The 5th ride in the Witham Wheelers series saw a healthy 28 riders take on the challenge of what turned out to be a demanding 69 mile route. The rolling hills on the second half of the route from Waltham-on-the Wolds to Wymondham and back via Castle Bytham proved quite a test, although it was good to be on dry roads after recent conditions.
The first group marshalled by Bill Harrison rode well to finish all together including first timer Kev Rics.
The second group which was the biggest struggled to find a rhythm with some riders possibly being a little ambitious in view of the distance and the broom wagon subsequently saw good service, however the majority finished in just over 4 hours including a couple of punctures.
Group 3 finished almost altogether in 3 hours 34 minutes for a fast 19.2 mph average driven on by Jim Coleman who joined this group after riding previous weeks on his own.
